LEVI N E•FRICKE
chlorinated herbicides for weed control ;along the power
transmission lines was indicated by the sampling and analysis
results. Finally, no evidence of the migration of volatile
organic compounds or petroleum hydrocarbons onto the Site from
the Tsutsui property through ground water" was indicated by the
sampling and analysis results_
i
n
!3
14.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
1 ;
Further investigation of the possible presence of elevated
concentrations of diesel fuel in ground water in the vicinity of
the former fuel tank location is recommendedi It is our
- experience that, in such cases, ' at least' one ; ground-water
.monitoring well is generally required by! the RWQCB to obtain
quantitative results of ground-water quaiity; and to .monitor
concentration trends of fuel and fuel constituents with time.
Since monitoring wells have been recommended : to further
investigate fuel-related ground water impacts at the Brookside.
Ranch site, it is recommended that the well in this area (the
Ripkin site) be installed concurrently in" order to minimize
overall costs associated with mobilization and demobilization of
equipment and staff, and scheduling.
The area near the Quonset but affected by DDT-related compounds
above the TTLC has, in our opinion, beenj1defined sufficiently to
11 enable decision-making regarding the appropriate action to
l
address this concern. We recommend thatjthese soils either be
redistributed in the area to reduce the overall concentration
below the TTLC value, with the consent and approval of the DOHS
(the lead agency in such cases) , or that4Ithealaffected area be
excavated and the soils removed to a Class -I ,landfill. In either
case, follow-up analysis will be required tofdocument successful
cleanup/reduction of concentrations to below hazardous levels.
{1
p
15.0 LIMITATIONS
The conclusions and recommendations presented in this report are
professional opinions based on the specific activities conducted
and information obtained through the Environmental Assessment as
described above, and are therefore dependant !on the quality of
` information obtained.
