Acacia St.
Tray, California
Project No. 774.2
April 1, 1999
' EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Two rounds of investigation have been performed on this Property since December 1998.
' The purpose of this work was to investigate the nature and extent of contamination on this
Property.
I ' A total of 13 GeoProbe boreholes, 2 soil borings and 10 hand auger boreholes have been
drilled. A total of 47 soil samples and 4 groundwater have been tested. Samples were
tested for TEPH-D & MO, TPH-G, BTE , and Solvents. Only 7 soil samples contained
detectable contamination, mostly motor oil range organics. While 13 groundwater samples
' contained detectable contamination, also mostly motor oil. A trace amount BTEX
compounds were detected in 3 groundwater samples. No Solvents were detected. The results
show that there are two areas with measurable concentrations of motor oil.
' The data shows that motor oil range organics are the only consistent contaminant present at
the site. Visible oil stained soil is present in a few areas of the site and is present in the
' groundwater at very low to trace concentrations.
The test results indicate that the soil remediation of 1995 effectively removed the source of
oil in the soil at the Former Storage Area. In 1995 groundwater was deeper(-12 ft bgs) then
' it is now (-6 ft bgs). The low concentration of motor oil found in the groundwater in the
Former Storage Area appears to be from residual soil below groundwater that was not
removed in 1995.
The contamination found in the soil under the Warehouse appears to be caused from work
activity prior to Warehouse construction. This contamination was not addressed in the 1995
cleanup work discussed above. However, both the soil and groundwater test data suggests
' that contamination under the Warehouse is minimal in extent and concentration.
It is recommended that a risk assessmen be performed to evaluate the need for further
' investigation or remediation of the motor oil and to determine the fate and transport of these
petroleum chemicals.
