Geological?ecFinics Inc. Page 6
Rehrig Pacific Inc.
Phase II ESA Report
Project No.: 709.2
January 4, 1999
TPH-G=
total petroleum hydrocarbons—as gasoline
* = Solvents have chemical specific detection limits
' ND =non detect
The lab data reports are attached in Appendix A.
4.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Conclusions
The lab tests results are summarized below:
' 1. Former Above Ground Storage Tank Area:
• HB-4 - soil contained trace concentrations of motor oil @ 6.5 ft
2. Former Underground Storage Tank Area:
' • HB-8 - contained trace concentrations of motor oil @ 6.5 ft
3. Waste Storage Area—around the boiler house (HB-9):
• shallow soil contamination in the oil stained areas northwest, north, and northeast of
the boil house
' • moderate diesel to a depth of approximately 4 to 5 ft
• the 5.5 ft sample was clean
4. Drum Storage Area:
' • HB-10—did not contain solvents
5. Former Paint Shed Area:
• GP-3 - contained trace concentrations of xylene in the groundwater sample
' 6. Trash Compactor Area (HB-7):
• shallow soil contamination in the graveled areas north of the trash compactor
• contains moderate concentrations of motor oil @ 1 ft, the 3 foot sample was clean
7. Former Storage & Cleaning Area:
' • GP-2—soil contained trace concentrations of motor oil @ 6.5 ft
• groundwater contamination as follows:
❑ GP-1 — contained elevated concentrations of motor oil and trace concentrations of
' xylene
❑ GP-2 - contained elevated concentrations of motor oil and trace concentrations of
ethyl benzene and xylene
8. Warehouse Area:
• SB-1 —soil @ 10 ft contained:
❑ elevated concentrations of diesel
❑ moderate concentrations of motor oil
• SB-2
❑ 1.5 ft soil sample did not contain solvents
❑ 10 ft soil sample did not contain diesel, motor oil, or solvents
' Given the data gathered during this soil testing and presented above, Geological Technics
Inc. concludes the following:
1. Of the eight areas investigated, seven of them contained contamination as reviewed
' below:
• AST—trace concentration of motor oil @ 6.5 ft
• UST-trace concentration of motor oil @ 6.5 ft
' 0 Waste Storage (boiler house)—moderate concentrations of diesel @ 1 ft
