All boreholes will be abandoned by grouting
the borehole with neat cement grout.
2.4 Surface Soil Sampling
1 Approximately, 25 surface soil samples will be collected throughout the project area to
assess the presence of lead from vehicle exhaust. The project area consists of land to the
' north, south, east and west of the Arch Road/Highway 99 Interchange. Surface soil
samples will be collected along the interchange right-of-way at approximate 100-foot
intervals, and analyzed for lead.
' Surface samples will be collected with dedicated trowels from grade to approximately 3
inches bgs. Soil samples will be placed in 4-ounce glass jars and shipped under chain-of-
custody protocol to a California-certified laboratory. Exact sample locations will be
determined based on field observations such as stained soil, stressed vegetation, and
surface topography. Figure 3 indicates the tentative location of the surface soil samples.
2.5 Sample Analysis
' URSGWC will submit the soil (and potential groundwater) samples to Chromolab of
Pleasanton, California, a state-certified laboratory, for the analyses detailed in the
' following table.
1
Sample Category Analytical Method
Borehole Soil —Diesel EPA Method 8015M
Borehole Soil —Gasoline EPA Method 8015M
' Borehole Soil - BTEX EPA Method 8020
Borehole Soil —Metals ICP - lead
Surface Soil —Lead ICP — lead
' Groundwater- Diesel, Gas, BTEX EPA Method 8015M (TPH-g and d
Analysis is dependent on results of TPH-g, TPH-d, and BTEX.
1
R&M/Arch Rd/43-00066762.00.1000
