Box 1079
Sacramento , CA 95805
Subject: Conduct Well Installation and Sampling and Complete a Problem
Assessment Report Assessing the Extent of Subsurface Soil and
Groundwater Hydrocarbon Contamination at California Department
of Transportation Shop 10, 1603 South B Street, Stockton,
California 95206
Dear Mr. Pejuhesh:
Woodward-Clyde Consultants is pleased to submit the following proposal
to conduct the following:
1) Install Groundwater Monitoring Wells
The soil borings completed in an earlier phase will be converted
to groundwater monitoring wells by installing 4-inch diameter
PVC well casing. It is assumed that these borings will remain
open. The wells will be screened both above and below the
shallow groundwater table to monitor both floating and dissolved
hydrocarbons. The deeper well will be screened from a depth of
approximately 60 to 80 feet in order to evaluate the vertical
extent of hydrocarbons in the groundwater. Each monitoring well
will be developed by pumping or bailing to remove sediment from
the well casing and filter material . One set of groundwater
.samples will be collected from each well and transported to a
commercial analytical laboratory for chemical analysis. OSA is
responsible for the disposal of all soil cuttings and
contaminated groundwater. WCC will assist OSA's removal of
these materials , if desired.
2) Conduct Groundwater Monitoring
Top-of-casing elevations will be established by surveying to
permit evaluation of the local groundwater gradient. The
groundwater levels and thickness of product in each well will
then be measured. The results will be used to establish the
horizontal and vertical gradient of shallow groundwater in this
area.
Consulting Engineers,Geologists
and Environmental Scientists ACIL
Offices in Other Principal Cities _
882904-1
