RIO/71-51-1C <br /> 4 3 GRO NDWATER SAMPLING METH DS AND WELL ONSTRUCTI N <br /> 1 Drilling and decontamination procedures described in Section 4 2 were followed in the <br /> drilling of the six monitoring wells All monitoring wells were completed according to <br /> California State Bulletin 74-88 Monitoring Well Standards Monitoring well construction <br /> 1 specifications are summarized in Table 4 (See Appendix C) Monitoring well diagrams <br /> (Figures 3 through 8) are presented in Appendix F All wells are 4-inch PVC monitoring <br /> wells <br /> ' The new wells were developed p and purged prior to sampling using a Grunfos submersible <br /> pump Existing wells MW7, MW10, MW11 and MW12 were purged earlier by hand bailing <br /> ' All new wells were purged of at least three casing volumes of water prior to sampling <br /> MW-7, MWA, MWB and MWC dried up during purging and were allowed to recharge <br /> completely prior to sampling Tables 5A and 58 (see Appendix C) summarize the well <br /> purging operation <br /> Water samples from each well were obtained utilizing a Teflon bailer properly <br /> ' decontaminated with TSP solution and deiornzed water to prevent cross-contamination <br /> Sample bottles were filled with specimen which were preserved according to EPA- <br /> approved procedures as described in Section 4 4 below <br /> ' 44 SAMPLE CONTAINERS PRESERVATION PACKAGING AND SHIPMENT <br /> Table 6 (see Appendix C) summarizes the sample containers utilized, preservation <br /> techniques and the observed holding time requirements <br /> All samples were shipped to the laboratory within 48 hours from the time of collection <br />' Following sampling, the exterior of sample bottles were cleaned by wiping the outer <br /> surface with a moist cloth In preparation for shipment, the following procedures were <br /> done <br />' o Checking the samples to make sure that these <br /> preserved <br /> when preservation is necessary Bottle caps were tightened well and liquid <br /> 1 levels were marked if sample bottles were partially filled <br /> o Placing each container in resealable plastic bags, ensuring that labels are <br /> readable <br /> 14 <br />
