i lcY <br /> Project No 58100-06-18 <br /> June 2t, 1995 <br /> Page 8 <br /> G Perform headspace surveys on the soil samples collected using a portable OVA, equipped <br /> with a PID or FID Headspace readings represent qualitative indicators of the presence of <br /> organic vapors in the pore space of the soil samples collected The headspace readings will <br /> be recorded on the boring logs submitted with the final report <br /> G Submit soil samples for the analyses of TPHg following EPA Test Method 8015 modified and <br /> BTEX following EPA Test Method 8020 <br /> c Provide QA/QC procedures during the field activities These procedures will include <br /> cleansing/rinsing of the sampling equipment prior to each sampling effort, the <br /> cleansing/rinsing of the drill rig augers prior to and between borings and providing chain-of- <br /> custody documentation for each sample collected and transferred to the laboratory for <br /> analytical testing <br /> u All drilling, sampling, and related activities will be conducted under the supervision of a <br /> Certified Engineering Geologist or a Registered Geologist who will be responsible for signing <br /> the final boring logs <br /> • o Onsite soil generated during the boring activities will be collected in 55-gallon drums and <br /> stored onsite for disposal following regulatory protocol <br /> u Install vapor extraction monitoring wells VM-1 and VM-2 at the locations shown on Figure <br /> 2 The vapor extraction monitoring wells will be constructed using 2-inch diameter PVC <br /> casing The lower portion of the well will be constructed using 45 feet of 0 020-inch slotted <br /> screen PVC casing A filter pack consisting of No 3 Monterey sand will be placed around <br /> the screen from the bottom of the boring to an elevation of two feet above the screen zone <br /> A two foot thick seal consisting of hydrated bentonite chips will be placed above the filter <br /> pack Above the seal a mixture of bentonite powder and cement will be placed to within two <br /> feet of grade level A traffic-rated security wellhead cover set in a concrete pad will be used <br /> to complete construction <br /> Task 11 - Vapor Extraction Test <br /> • The VET will be performed for approximately 6 hours and will involve the extraction of soil <br /> gas at variable flowrates, the monitoring of flowrate, vacuum and temperature of extracted <br /> soil gas and the monitoring of vacuum response in the vadose zone wells and selected existing <br /> groundwater monitoring wells <br /> • Collect and analyze approximately six to eight vapor samples for TPHg and BTEX using EPA <br /> test method 8015M <br />
