Technologies which are able to treat or control the contamination, but are
nct suitable for the site were eliminated. The feasibility of a technology is predicated on
the site continuing to be used by Callrans as a maintainence yard.
f' + The maturity of the relevant technologies was considered, with preference given to
technologies with a proven track record of successful implementation. Constraints
imposed by the te:,hnology were considered, and technologies with constraints which
were too limiting were eliminated. The achievable levels of cleanup were a major factor:
a technology with a known achievable level of cleanup was given preference over one
with a less certain achievable level of cleanup.
5.1.2 .,hblic Healfh_.sl
Without compromising other
criteria, adequate protection of public haalth and the environment Is to be maintained
during and atter the remediatlon process.
