(Geocon) and has the following comments. <br /> Based upon their evaluation of site conditions, Geocon has proposed in the SCM to destroy by <br /> pressure grouting six existing groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-3 through MW-6 and <br /> MW-12) because their screen intervals are submerged below the water table, and install four <br /> groundwater monitoring wells with shallow screen intervals. Geocon proposes to retain wells <br /> MW-2, MW-10 and MW-11 in case the groundwater elevation drops in the future, but to not <br /> sample them on a routine basis. <br /> The EHD does not agree with the proposed well destructions at this time. While not built as <br /> depth discrete groundwater monitoring wells, they do not appear to have caused harm by cross- <br /> connecting two distinct water bearing zones, and they do provide some vertical contaminant <br /> distribution data. The wells may be sampled annually. <br /> The EHD approves the installation of additional shallow groundwater monitoring wells but <br /> conditions that one be installed south of impacted well MW-15 to provide lateral definition of the <br /> shallow plume in that direction. Please provide a modified map to the EHD indicating final <br /> locations of proposed new shallow monitoring wells for approval along with a San Joaquin <br /> County Well Permit Application, $89.00 permit fee and $315.00 permit inspection fee.
