Unfortunately, in these days of
financial constraints the funding for the remediation work has been lost. What funds exist are
being allocated on a statewide priority with safety projects first in line. The safety of the
travelling public must certainly take precedence over all other projects.
We had reached the point in these projects of having designed the remediation system and were
in the process of writing the contracts to bid the actual clean-up work. Once funding is again
secured, we will complete writing the contracts and initiate the state contracting procedures to
hire a contractor for the remediation work.
Please contact myself at the above-noted telephone number or Mr. Saiyed Ali of my staff at
209.948.7873 if you have any questions. Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
RICHARD S. ISE , Senior
Central Sierra 1✓n onmental Branch
"Caltrans improves mobility across California"
