Soil Vapor Extraction and'Air Sparging .
Performance Monitoring Plan
Stockton Yard Maintenance Facility, Stockton
Page 3-3
Problem: Compressor not operating
Potential Causes and Solutions:
a. Possible power.outage or SVETS shutdown.. .Compressor must be manually restarted
upon shutdown. Restore power, then push start button'to restart compressor.
} b. Tripped circuit breaker. If circuit breaker was tripped, then reset.breaker, restart
compressor, and measure compressor motor amperage.Check compressor nameplate
for acceptable amperage.
c. Compressor not restarting. Verify.power to control panel. Check voltage to
compressor. Check.for blown main fuse and fuse.in control circuit.
d. Pressure switch`open..Adjust or replace pressure switch, as necessary:
e. Loose or faulty connection. Check and tighten all electrical wire connections.
f. High temperature switch activated. If the unit becomes so hot that it activates the.high
temperature switch, allow the unit to cool. Reset the high temperature switch and check
for high temperature condition.
Problem: L oiv flow or bigb pressure tbrougb compressor
Potential Causes and Solutions:
a. Particulate buildup in inlet filter:.Remove filter to.inspect. Clean or replace filter element as
necessary.
b. Defective pressure gauge. Replace.gauge.
c. Pressure switch open. Adjust of replace pressure switch.
d. No power to solenoid. Check electrical-connections..
e. Improper belt tension. Adjust belt tension.
f. Valves improperly closed. Verify air, injection piping valves are open.
g. Leak in piping or compressor cover. Inspect system for air-leaks.
h. Worn piston ring.or defective gaskets. Replace gaskets and rings.
Problem: Compressor cycles too often
Potential Causes and'Soiutions:
a. Incorrect pressure setting. Adjust pressure switch.
b.
