PRELIMINARY SITE INVESTIGATION REPORT <br /> California Department of Transportation <br /> Stockton Maintenance Facility <br /> 1604 South B Street <br /> Stockton, California <br /> July 9, 1992 <br /> boo INTRODUCTION <br /> The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) retained <br /> Alton Geosclence to perform a preliminary site investigation at <br /> the Stockton Maintenance Facility, 1604 South B Street, Stockton, <br /> California. A brief description of the site location and past <br /> activities is presented below. A site vicinity map is shown in <br /> Figure 1 and a site plan is shown in Figure 2 . <br /> 1 . 1 Site Description = <br /> The Caltrans Stockton Maintenance Facility is an operating <br /> facility. Caltrans Shop 10 Facility and the San Joaquin County <br /> Fairgrounds are located across the street to the east. The <br /> properties immediately adjacent to the site are primarily <br /> commercial and residential developments. <br /> The site is situated approximately 21 feet above mean sea level <br /> (msl) , as shown in Figure 1 . Mormon Slough, the nearest surface <br /> body of water in the area, is located approximately 1, 000 feet <br /> north of the site. Duck Creek is located approximately 1-1/2 <br /> miles south of the site. Appendix A presents details of the <br /> project background. <br /> 200 PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF WORK <br /> This preliminary site investigation was conducted to: <br /> 1. Investigate the nature and extent of petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> in the subsurface soil and ground water detected during <br /> tank removal operations. <br /> 2 . Provide recommendations regarding additional investigation <br /> or remediation in accordance with the requirements of the <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Department (SJCPHD) and <br /> the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, <br /> Central Valley Region (RWQCB) . <br /> Alton Geoscience conducted the following tasks during this <br /> investigation: <br /> 1 <br />
