ti
5.0 Conclusions and Recommendations
On behalf of Caltrans, IT conducted site investigation activities on February 13 and 14, 2002 to
assess petroleum hydrocarbon impacts to groundwater at the project site Based on the
laboratory results of ITs investigation, current regulatory guidelines, and the professional
judgement of IT, the following conclusions and recommendations are offered
• Two boring locations were evaluated for unreported utility clearance using
geophysical methods No anomalies were found near the boring locations.
• TPHg, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes, n-Propylbenzene, tert-Butylbenzene,
and 1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene were detected in groundwater samples collected from
boring SC-1 None of these contaminants were detected at concentrations
exceeding their respective State of California Primary MCLs
• Benzene was detected in groundwater samples SC-1-90' and SC-1-100' at
concentrations exceeding the State of California Primary MCL of 1 µg/1
• The estimated contaminant mass for the three potential water-bearing zones is
presented in Table 2
• Based on these results, further investigation is not recommended
azirozao2wR rwreeeas2n z ax 5-1
