3.0 Site Investigation Results
3.1 Underground Utility Survey
' The geophysical underground utility survey revealed subsurface utilities to the south and east of
the CPT locations It appeared from both geophysical survey results as well as asphalt patching
that there were electric lines that ran east, just south of the CPT location and made a turn to the
north These were considered to be too close to the CPT location and it was recommended that
the CPT location be moved at least 2 feet to the northwest
3.2 Cone Penetrometer Testing
The CPT log indicated that potential water bearing zones were located at 19 8 meters (65 feet),
27 4 meters (90 feet), and 30 5 meters (100 feet) The cone penetration test data is included in
Appendix A
3.3 Groundwater Conditions
' Temperature, pH, and conductivity of each groundwater sample were recorded on field report
forms These measurements are presented below
Sample ID Sample Sample Temperature pH Conductivity
' Depth(ft) Depth(m) (2C) (PS/cm)
SC-1-65' 65 198 209 705 1191
SC-1-90' 90 274 168 756 8186
1 SC-1-100' 100 305 188 743 1 6681
Groundwater samples were collected from the each of the targeted water bearing zones Total
Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gas (TPHg) was detected in the groundwater samples collected from
SC-1-65' and SC-1-100' at concentrations of 130 and 84 micrograms per liter (ug/l),
respectively Benzene was detected in all groundwater samples at concentrations ranging
between 1 0 and 7 7 Pg/I Toluene was detected in SC-1-90' and SC-1-100' at concentrations of
I I and 2 2 pg/l, respectively Ethylbenzene was detected in all groundwater samples at
concentrations ranging between 14 and 5 2 µg/1 Total Xylenes were detected in all
groundwater samples at concentrations ranging between 7 6 and 28 6 µg/1 Groundwater
samples were not reported to contain concentrations of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as diesel
(TPHd), Ethyl-t-butyl ether(ETBE), Di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), Methyl tertiary butyl ether
aemz
r,„ary isncapncoMMorrvw ,a +s3szrzao 3-1
