The work will be performed in accordance with both of the following
documents: 1) Work Plan for the Installation of Additional Off-Site Groundwater Monitoring
Wells and Soil Vapor Survey, dated July 16, 2007, and 2) the Work Plan for Additional Wells North
of Site and Response to Regional Board Letter Dated 26 July 2007, dated August 23, 2007. The
boring for well MW-1 OD will be drilled out to 10" diameter to ensure complete removal of the
well material from the current construction prior to the re-installation of the well. "A-Rods" will
be set in the casing during drilling to ensure that the augers stay on the original hole and that the
well materials including the well casing are recovered. The well will be re-installed utilizing a 2"
diameter schedule 40 PVC flush-thread casing to 90' below ground surface (bgs) with a screened
interval (0.020" slot) from 80 to 90' bgs. A Monterey #3 sand, or equivalent, will be used as a filter
pack from 95' up to approximately 78' (2' above the top of screen), this will be followed by a 2'
bentonite seal followed by a neat cement grout tremied through the augers from the top of the
bentonite at approximately 76' up to a traffic-rated, water-tight, flush-mounted well box. The well
installation will be finished with a concrete collar around the well box. A locking cap will be
secured to the top of casing within the well box.
Regards,
Roger
Roger Hoffmore, P.G.
Senior Geologist
Closure Solutions, Inc.
