(CSI) in response to the 26 July 2007 Regional Board staff letter (Letter) for
Cleanup and Abatement Order No. R5-2007-0709 (CAO). The Workplan (see Letter
comment 1) proposes installation of four additional upgradient groundwater monitoring wells
MW-12A, -12B, -13A, and MW-13B to the north and northeast of the Site (enclosed Figure 1).
The Responses addresses Letter comments 2 through 9.
The Workplan is necessary and appropriate to complete lateral definition of the MtBE
groundwater plume, and is approved as submitted. The Responses adequately address the
Letter comments 2 through 9 by providing the requested information and changes to the
following documents: the Work Plan for the Installation of Off-Site Groundwater Monitoring
Wells and Soil Vapor Survey, the Site History, the UST System Integrity, and the Public
Participation Plan. Please note that the CAO requires installation of all new wells by
21 September 2007 and the submittal of a Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report by
15 November 2007. Provide San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department and
myself at least three working days notice prior to commencing fieldwork.
If you have any questions or comments, you may call me at (916) 464-4615 or email me at
ibartonPwaterboards.ca.gov.
JAMES L.L.
