y • •
Formal Reply to October 18,2005 Phone Conversation
Flag City New West#1003,6437 West Banner Street,Lodi,California
Page 2
The costs are as follows based on a$0.19 per gallon disposal cost for clean water and 21 hours
per day vacuum truck usage:
• Baker tank rental $30.00/day $5,460.00
• Overflow prevention $2,000.00 $2,000.00
• Vacuum Trucks $110.00/hour $415,800.00
• Water Disposal $0.15/gal $777,600.00
TOTAL.......................................................................$1,200,860.00
Apex submitted a workplan dated October 17, 2005 proposing the installation of five extraction
wells onsite and four additional offsite monitoring wells in the first three aquifer zones.to attempt
to delineate the vertical and lateral extent of the MTBE groundwater plume. The dissolved phase
MTBE plume emanating from the New West site was originally discovered in May 2004 when
the Flag City Chevron site first sampled wells MW-19A and B located approximately 30 feet -
south of the New West site. Apex has already sampled four wells that were installed as part of
the initial investigation directed by Mr. Inf rma in his first written directive to New West dated
July 15, 2005. These newly installed wells provided additional information regarding the
dissolved phase MTBE plume but did not define it laterally or vertically. The four proposed
offsite well permits have been submitted and are scheduled for installation once San Joaquin
County Public Works issues the encroachment permit and SJCEH issues the drilling permits.
Once these data from the proposed wells is received(expected by mid November), a better
determination can be made as to lateral and vertical extent of the dissolved phase groundwater
MTBE plume and the necessity of batch extraction can be better evaluated at that time.
If you have any questions or comments, please call us at(916) 851-0174.
Sincerely,
APEX ENV/IROTEC`H, INC.
ennifer Worsley f1" w t
Project Manager V::.
-
Irt1..,M11'/V/
Michael S.
