Box 6012 <br /> San Ramon, California 94583 <br /> SEMIANNUAL 2003 GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT (JANUARY - JUNE), <br /> LYOTH LOADING STATION, TRACY, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> We have reviewed the Semiannual 2003 Groundwater Monitoring Report(January - June),former <br /> Lyoth Loading Station, Tracy, San Joaquin County (Report), dated 29 April 2003, prepared on behalf of <br /> Chevron Environmental Management Company by Science Applications International Corporation <br /> (SAIC). The Report provides the 12 March 2003 groundwater monitoring analytical results for the Old <br /> Valley Pipeline site located at the Former Lyoth Loading Station property in Tracy, CA. <br /> Concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-d) at 130 µg/L and 370 pg/L (w/o silica <br /> gel cleanup), was reported in MW-1 and MW-6,respectively. No other petroleum hydrocarbons or <br /> semi-volatile organic compounds were detected during this event. Monitoring well MW-2 was not <br /> sampled due to the presence of 0.08 foot of separate-phase petroleum present on the water- Consistent <br /> with previous monitoring events, the groundwater gradient is north-northwesterly and depth to water <br /> ranges between 17 feet and 21 feet below grade. <br /> Based on previous and current monitoring events, it appears that the extent of impacted groundwater <br /> north of MW-1 and MW-6 has not been adequately characterized. We believe that a hydrophobic <br /> absorbent sock should be placed in MW-2 and monitored quarterly until the next semi-annual <br /> groundwater-monitoring event takes place later this year. After reviewing the next semi-annual report <br /> and analytical results, we will evaluate the possibility of conducting additional soil and groundwater <br /> testing downgradient (northerly) of monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-6. <br /> If you have any questions please call Dean Hubbard at (559) 445-5179. <br /> SHELTON R.R.E C.
