As described in the attached letter, Chevron
Environmental Management Company (CEMC) requests that the California Regional Water
Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (RWQCB), consider the approval of the use of
two grab groundwater borings in lieu of groundwater monitoring wells to evaluate downgradient
groundwater quality.
In June 2000, CEMC initiated contact with the downgradient landowner, Mr. Robert Raspo, to
execute a site access agreement to perform the proposed work. Mr. Raspo has requested that
RWQCB staff provide him with a description of the extent of work that CEMC will be directed
to perform on his property. It is CEMC's understanding that a site access agreement will not be
executed until Mr. Raspo is satisfied that efforts have been made to minimize the amount of
work that CEMC will be required to perform on his property.
CEMC intends to perform the proposed work in late September 2000 pending RWQCB approval
of the revisions to the work plan by September 8, 2000 and the execution of a site access
agreement with Mr. Raspo by mid September. CEMC will notify RWQCB staff at least 48 hours
in advance of the exact field date. If you have any questions or require additional information,
please call either Penny Fottrell at (925) 842-1343 or me at(925) 842-1341.
Since
Robert D.
