The groundwater sample will be collected
using a disposable bailer and will be decanted into 40-milliliter acidified volatile organic
analysis (VOA) vials and 1-liter amber bottles. Sample containers will be labeled, sealed in
plastic bags, and stored in an ice-cooled chest. Following collection of groundwater samples,
the casing will be removed, and the boreholes will be backfilled with cement grout.
Geomatrix will submit the groundwater sample to a State of California-certified analytical
laboratory under Geomatrix chain-of-custody control. The groundwater sample will be
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) quantified as diesel (C10 to C24 carbon
range) using EPA Method 8015 Modified. The laboratory will perform the TPH as diesel
analyses both with and without a silica gel cleanup on sample extracts prior to analysis.
The proposed field work will be scheduled within two weeks of RWQCB approval of this
work plan and receipt of an access agreement between CEMC and the downgradient property
owner. Appropriate regulatory agencies will be notified at least 48 hours prior to
implementation of field work or if there are any changes in the schedule. A soil boring permit
will be obtained from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division. Please call Michael Keim at (510) 663-4107 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
GEOMATRIX CONSULTANTS, INC.
Michael R. Keim Gary R.
