In addition to providing
Regional Board staff comments on the Semi-Annual Report, the discussion below is
presented to assist Pioneer with identifying useful data available within published documents
for the adjacent Defense Distribution Depot San Joaquin California, Tracy Site (DDJC-
Tracy), located west of the Pioneer site. The following DDJC-Tracy document is referenced
below: Well Monitoring Program 2005 Annual Monitoring Report, Draft December 2005
(Final anticipated June 2006).
Hydrologic Units
Pioneer has established a conceptual site model that includes three subsurface groundwater
monitoring horizons: The Upper, Middle, and Lower Horizons. Monitoring wells MW-1
through MW-9, MW-11, and MW-13 are screened within the Upper Horizon over the interval
between 10 and 33 feet below ground surface (bgs). Monitoring wells MW-10, MW-12, and
MW-14 are screened within the Middle Horizon over the interval between 42 and 58 feet bgs.
Monitoring well MW-15 is screened within the Lower Horizon between 68 and 78 feet bgs.
DDJC-Tracy has established a conceptual site model that includes three subsurface
hydrologic zones: The Upper, Middle, and Lower Hydrologic Zones (page 2-4 of the 2005
Annual Monitoring Report).
The combined Pioneer Upper and Middle Horizons appear to correlate with the DDJC-Tracy
Upper Hydrologic Zone. The Pioneer Lower Horizon appears to correlate with the DDJC-
Tracy Middle Hydrologic Zone. None of the Pioneer monitoring wells are screened within the
DDJC-Tracy Lower Hydrologic Zone.
California Environmental Protection Agency
Ca Recycled Paper
