Mr. Sam Chamberlain - 3 - 14 June 2006
•
t
approximately six years ago and periodic monitoring and sampling data collected from
DDJC-Tracy wells indicate that CTCL has migrated to locations north of the borings
advanced in November 2000.
Comments
It appears that CTCL from the Pioneer facility has migrated into the Middle Hydrologic Zone
defined by DDJC-Tracy, which is the Lower Horizon defined by Pioneer. And it appears that
the CTCL from the Pioneer facility has migrated within the Middle Hydrologic Zone (Lower
Horizon of Pioneer's investigation) to DDJC-Tracy extraction and monitoring wells located
north of the Pioneer facility.
As a means of monitoring the CTCL plume, the Pioneer monitoring well network must
include wells within what Pioneer has designated the Lower Horizon. By 30 July 2006
Pioneer should submit a work plan for monitoring wells to define the extent of the Lower
Horizon plume of CTCL emanating from the Pioneer facility. This work plan may amend the
Cleanup Plan due on 31 May 2006 as directed in the 20 May 2005 Regional Board letter.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (916) 464-4675, or by email at
jbrownell@waterboards.ca.gov.
James R.
