Ms. Devra Lewis M
June 7,2001
Page 9
3.4.2.3 Sample Custody Control Procedures
All samples submitted to the analytical laboratory will be accompanied by a completed chain-of-
custody(COC)form. The COC form will be used to document the handling and shipping
procedures as well as identify and ensure traceability of the samples collected. The COC form will
be completed and signed by the sample collector and subsequently signed through all custody
transfers. At the analytical laboratory, the COC form will be checked for accuracy and
completeness, and then signed and dated by the laboratory custodian accepting the samples. A
separate COC form(s) will accompany each shipment of samples. If all of the samples in a given
shipment cannot be recorded on a single COC form, an additional form(s) will be used.
3.5 TASK 5- INVESTIGATION DERIVED WASTE DISPOSAL
Soil generated during the installation of the groundwater wells will be stockpiled on and covered with
visqueen at a designated Site location. The soil stockpile will remain on-site pending receipt of soil
analytical data from the laboratory for profiling purposes. Composite soil samples will be collected and
analyzed for VOCs by EPA Method 8021B. The analytical results will be used for waste profiling and
disposal evaluation.
Water generated during the installation of the groundwater wells will be collected and recycled in the
Pioneer plant for use as process water.
3.6 TASK 6-SUMMARY REPORT
Upon completing Tasks 1 through 5, SECOR will prepare a Summary Report describing the methods for
and results of the investigation. The Summary Report will include tabulated analytical data, figures
depicting subsurface conditions including groundwater chemical analytical results, and appendices
containing laboratory reports, permits, well construction logs, and other pertinent information. The
Summary Report will also include conclusions and recommendations for further work, if warranted.
4.0 SCHEDULE
SECOR proposes to initiate the described activities immediately following approval of the Work Plan by
the RWQCB. We anticipate that the project will require approximately four to five months to complete
following Work Plan approval. A proposed schedule for the groundwater investigation is included as
Attachment A. As previously noted, the schedule is dependent upon obtaining access agreements. Based
on previous experience with offsite landowners, we believe Task 1 will require at least two months to
complete. Task 2 will require approximately 3 weeks to complete. Task 3 will require approximately two
weeks to complete, and is dependent upon the availability of a drilling company. Task 6 will require
approximately one month. The Summary Report will be submitted one month from receipt of final
analytical results from the analytical laboratory.
H:\Pioneer-Tracy\WorkPlan200l\workplan.doc SECOR Intemational Inc.
