Field screening will
also include noting visual indications of the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons, such as staining,
discoloration,or sheens.
r aboratory Arialyses
Two soil samples will be selected from each of the three soil borings (for a total of 6 soil samples)
for laboratory analysis. The soil samples from each boring will be selected based on the results of
field screening and sampling depth so that the samples with the highest FID and PID readings and
the deepest sample collected will be submitted for analysis.
The soil samples will be analyzed for chloroform and carbon tetrachloride using EPA Method
8010. A standard ten working day turnaround time will be provided for completion of laboratory
analyses.
Task 4-Groundwater Sampling
Quarterly groundwater monitoring is being conducted at the Tracy Facility by Smith
Environmental. Smith Environmental will include the two monitoring wells described in this
work plan in their quarterly groundwater monitoring schedule.
In addition to quarterly groundwater monitoring, we recommend that groundwater level
measurements be made on a monthly basis for twelve months following construction of the
additional monitoring wells. Collection of monthly water level measurements from the network
of monitoring wells would provide a more accurate identification of changes to flow directions
and gradients over time.
Task S- Groundwater Investigation Rg or
A report that presents the laboratory and field test results from the construction of the monitoring
wells will be prepared. The report will include a summary of our sampling procedures, a site plan
indicating the monitoring well locations, top of casing elevations surveyed from site landmarks, soil
boring logs, and copies of laboratory analysis reports with accompanying Chain-of-Custody forms
for samples submitted for analysis.
SCHEDULE
The HydroPunch sampling will be scheduled following receipt of the Regional Board's written
approval of this work plan. Construction of the additional shallow groundwater monitoring wells
will be scheduled following the Regional Water Quality Control Board's written approval of
recommendations presented in the HydroPunch sampling report. We anticipate that the drilling
activities will begin within four weeks following the work plan's approval. Closure of the
surface impoundments will be conducted under separate schedule that will be submitted to the
Regional Board.
All Pure Chemical Company-Tracy Facility HELMICK 9: LERNER INC.
HU 00907 Page 6
LB'd SS-2-1 au I -j au..,a-1/'1 01 w 1 aH UlOdd 22b289b68ZT 01 89:ST 96, 9T -lnf
