KLEINFELDER
3 BACKGROUND
The site is located near the southwest corner of Chrisman Road and Bates Road in Tracy, San
Joaquin County, California and is proposed to be a Package Sewage Treatment Facility for the
proposed 78 acre Linne Estates Subdivision. The treatment plant will serve 150 residential
parcels. The treatment plant is sized to handle 55,000 gallons per day. Wastewater treatment
will consist of activated sludge in a batch treatment process, partial denitrification, disinfection,
and discharge to shallow emitters.
In accordance with the RWQCB Waste Discharge Requirements (WDR) Linne Estates, LLC is
required to monitor groundwater quality conditions upgradient and downgradient of the treatment
plant and leach fields. Kleinfelder prepared an initial workplan for the characterization of
baseline groundwater quality at the site prior to construction of the treatment plant. Three
monitoring wells (MW1-MW3) were installed in August 2003, developed and initially sampled
in September 2003. Kleinfelder has conducted quarterly groundwater sampling and reporting
for the third and fourth quarters 2003 and the four quarters of 2004.
A revised treatment plant layout presented in the proposed Report of Waste Discharge prompted
the RWQCB to require Linne Estates, LLC to provide additional groundwater monitoring wells
to better characterize groundwater quality at the site. In October 2004 Kleinfelder installed two
additional monitoring wells (MW-4 and MW-5). Due to a conflict between the original location
of MW-4 and the proposed storm water pond, the well is required to be re-located.
34091.E01/ST05R040/JZ:Iv Page 3 of 9
©2005,Kleinfelder,Inc.
