0 0
Soil-Gas Investigation Workplan July 6, 2015
200 N. Beckman Rd Page 4
• All field methods, parameters, and other pertinent information will be documented
in a field log throughout the field activities.
The soil vapor analytical results will be compared to the applicable shallow soil gas
screening criteria (Environmental Screening Levels - ESLs) and, if warranted (if
screening values are exceeded), and if required, the data can be used to develop
an updated Tier 2 HHRA for the site. The updated HHRA, if warranted, will
evaluate both Baseline Carcinogenic Risk and Baseline Toxic Effects for residential
and commercial receptors. Volatilization to indoor air exposure scenarios will be
evaluated using a one-in-a-million target risk level and a target hazard quotient of
one.
If required, an updated HHRA will be conducted in accordance with United States
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and DTSC guidance, principally DTSC's
Supplemental Guidance for Human Health Multimedia Risk Assessments of
Hazardous Waste Sites and Permitted Facilities, and EPA's Risk Assessment
Guidance for Super-fund.
FIELD QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL
Sampling equipment will be steam cleaned or thoroughly scrubbed with alconox
solution followed by a distilled water rinse prior to being brought on site and
between sampling locations.
Chain of custody protocol will follow for all samples from the time of collection to
the time of arrival at the off-site laboratory.
The chain-of-custody program allows for the tracing of possession and handling of
individual samples from the time of field collection through laboratory analysis.
The document will include the signature of the collector, date and time of
collection, sample number, number and type of sample containers including
preservatives, parameters requested for analysis, signatures of persons and
inclusive dates involved in the chain of possession. Upon delivery to the
Environmental and Remediation Services since 19921
A
