Field screening with the FID will be performed on soil
excavated from this location beginning 15 ft bgs and continuing to 40 ft bgs
Segregation of excavated soil will follow procedures outlined in subsection 5 3 Once the limits
of the excavation have been reached, confirmation samples will be collected as described in the
following section.
7.4 CQNFIRMATION SAMPLIN
Once all the impacted soil has been removed from the excavation, confirmation samples will be
collected One sample is proposed from the bottom of the excavation, and two sidewall samples
are proposed as confirmation samples. The bottom sample will be collected from the center of
the excavation, while the sidewall samples will be collected from the east and west sidewalls of
the excavation The soil samples will be analyzed for TPH-G (EPA Method 8015 modified) and
BTEX (EPA Method 8020) To minimize potential problems associated with the open
excavation, confirmation samples will be analyzed on a 24 hour turn around time The results
of the confirmation samples will identify if all petroleum impacted soil has been removed from
beneath the former UST, or if additional excavation is necessary
7.5 (EXCAVATION BACKFILL
After establishing that no additional excavation is necessary, the excavation will be backfilled
with clean fill material The material will be backfilled and compacted to ensure that no
additional settling will occur The excavation will be resurfaced with appropriate baserock and
asphalt surface
8.0 FINAL REPORT
Prepare a final report that will summarize all field activities and results for the UST removals.
The report will be presented to the EHD within 30 days of receipt of all analytical data. The
report will include the following information
® A summary of all field activities and procedures associated with the tank
removals, soil excavation, and sampling Copies of any permits, manifests, and
other pertinent paperwork will be included in the report
LIPR0JECrS\SAKJ0q .ODI Acr 17 15 May 1995
