This information was recorded on field water sampling data sheets and final values are presented
in Table B-2
TABLE B-2
Field Groundwater Parameter Measurements
End of Purge Values
August 25, 1992
Well/Sample pH Temperature (°F) Conductivity (umhos)
MW-1 535 73 2 762
MW-2 NS NS NS
MW-3 NS NS NS
MW-4 698 734 239
NS = Not Sampled due to dry well
' To sample each well, a precleaned bailer was lowered into the well, filled, and brought to the
surface. The water in the bailer was carefully poured into laboratory prepared glass bottles
which were then capped with teflon lined caps. Samples were labeled with stick-on labels filled
out in indelible ink, with the following information:
Site name
Date collected
Time collected
Sample ID
Sampler's initials
Analysis required
Samples were placed with ice in an insulated chest for delivery with a Chain-of-Custody
document to the WESTON Analytics' laboratory in Stockton, California. This laboratory is
certified by the State of California to perform the required analyses. Samples were submitted
for analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) by EPA Method 8015
(modified), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020.
The bailer used to purge and sample the well was decontaminated prior to use by washing it in
an alconox-water mixture with a stiff bristle brush, rinsing it with potable water and giving it
' a final spray rinse with distilled water The well sounding device was decontaminated in a
similar manner prior to first use and between uses at each well The thin nylon line used to
lower each bailer into the well was disposed of after each use Water brought to the surface
during the purging process and the water used for decontamination of equipment was collected
in a 55 gallon drum and stored onsite pending the groundwater analytical results.
All water sampling was performed in accordance with WESTON's site-specific health and safety
plan, which was available onsite during field activities A safety meeting was held with
personnel prior to starting work to review anticipated safety hazards and emergency procedures
The field work for this project was performed under Level D personal protection
' SMCIRPTSLSICMAU WP
B - 2 1WIV92
