Since no information is available regarding the location or storage of the referenced chlorinated solvents,these sampling locations will be either at or near the current known Main Haz-Waste Accumulation Location(Manufacturing Plant),known Auxiliary Hazardous Materials Storage Area(Warehouse) and near the Resin Storage Area (Manufacturing Plant). Sage will attempt to determine the former locations of the reported Spray Paint Booths and collect one (1) sample near that location. Historical Site Use for Agriculture The ENVIRON report stated that the site was used for agricultural purposes from at least 1939 until the early 1960's and that several structures may have been located on the western portion of the site. These structures may have been storage sheds for pesticides, herbicides and either heating oil or fuel oil for farm vehicles. Sage Recommendations Sage reviewed the topographic snaps(1939) and aerial photographs(1957 and 1963) cited in the ENVIRON report and it appears that the structures identified were actually to the west of Highway 99 (currently adjacent to the west side of the property).Highway 99 was built sometime between 1957 and 1963 and split the property,with the only structures Sage could identify to the west of Highway 99.Based on this information, Sage will only collect one(1)soil sample from the field to the west of the plant and analyze it for pesticides and herbicides. De Minimis Conditions Potential Impact from Adjacent and Nearby Properties ENVIRON noted several adjacent or nearby properties listed on the regulatory databases, including one Superfund Site(Inactive) and one leaking underground storage tank (LUST),both of which are within 1,000 feet of the north side of the site. Sage Recommendations Upon review of the ENVIRON database, Sage does not consider the listed properties as being environmental concerns to the CertainTeed property as far as soil or groundwater impact is concerned. Pavement Staining ENVIRON noted evidence of minor pavement staining on the northern exterior of the building,which facility personnel believed was a result of an overflowing bucket used to collect air compressor condensate.Pavement in the area was reportedly in good condition with no evidence of cracks. Sage Recommendations Based on the reportedly minor amount of spillage from a bucket spill and the fact that it was compressor condensate, Sage does not consider this staining an environmental concern to the property.
