d0aytori
Mr. Mark Frater Page 2
R.E. Service Company Clayton Project No. 70-05628.00
' March 21, 2005
Valley Auto Auction used the subject property as a horse arena and an auto auction yard,
' respectively.
RES purchased the property in 1994 and remodeled the building to accommodate its
' manufacturing operations. The renovations included installation of a boiler system and
cooling tower, construction of a press pit, and installation of a steam powered laminating
press system. RES currently owns and occupies the property to manufacture phenolic
' wood computer boards, laminates, and copper foils used by the computer industry. Based
on information in the previous Phase I reports, the four areas identified below are areas
chosen for investigation:
• Press pit area
' • Outside drum storage area
• Plate washing area
• Sump/catch basin areas
' SCOPE OF WORK
' Clayton has developed an approach to perform subsurface investigative activities to
evaluate potential impacts to the subsurface. The approach is detailed in the following
sections.
' PRE-FIELD ACTIVITIES
' The purpose of the pre-field activities is to appropriately plan the work and to ensure that
onsite personnel are prepared for potential safety hazards at the property. The pre-field
' activities will include the following:
• Preparing a Site Health and Safety Plan (HASP)to reflect the work proposed at the
' subject property. The HASP will describe the work to be performed, safety
precautions, emergency response procedures, nearest hospital information, and onsite
personnel responsible for managing emergency situations. A copy of the HASP is
' provided as Attachment A.
• Marking the site boundaries and proposed investigation areas with white paint and
' notifying Underground Service Alert (USA) at least 48 hours prior to performing
field activities.
' SABSPROECTS2MM628 M Service Compeny\cjcehd permit workplan letter doe
