The sample tubes will be
placed into a chilled ice chest for transport to the analytical laboratory. Chain of custody
documentation will accompany the soil samples to the analytical laboratory.
Upon completion of soil boring activities, the borings will be backfilled with a neat
cement grout.
Soil cuttings generated during drilling activities will be placed onto plastic sheeting for
temporary storage. Disposal of the soil cuttings will be contingent upon analytical
laboratory results.
Drilling equipment will be cleaned prior to and after drilling each boring. Drilling and
soil sampling equipment will also be cleaned between coring intervals using a triple rinse
' method. The initial rinse will consist of an Alconox and water solution, followed by a tap
water rinse and deionized water rinse. Deionized water will be used during the final
(third)rinse. Decontamination wastewater will be pumped from the driller's self-
contained decontamination unit, if utilized, and placed into 5-gallon buckets or 55-gallon
waste drums.
' LABORATORY ANALYSIS
' Laboratory analyses will be performed by a California-state certified analytical
laboratory. Up to 7 soil samples will be submitted for laboratory analyses. Soil samples
will be analyzed for total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons and total volatile petroleum
' hydrocarbons (VOCs) using EPA Method 8015M, and for volatile organic compounds
using USEPA Method 8260B. Selected soil samples will also be analyzed for semi-
volatile organic compounds (phenolic compounds))by USEPA Method 8270D.
' Laboratory analyses will be performed over a standard turnaround time (between 5 and
10 business days).
' REPORT PREPARATION
' Upon project completion of the field activities and receipt of the laboratory analyses,
Clayton will prepare a written report summarizing the findings of work performed at the
subject property. The report will include a description of the subject property, summary
' of investigative methodologies, analytical results, findings, conclusions, and
recommendations. In addition, tables will be provided showing the analytical results, as
well as figures showing the boring locations. Appendices will also be provided, which
' will include copies of the drilling permits, borings logs, and certified analytical reports.
' S:\ESPROMUS M562E RE Service CompaayAjcehd permit workplan letter&c
