DAMES &. OORE
Renown Enterprises, Inc.
october 3, 1988
Page Three
: Sieve analyses will be conducted on selected soil samples
collected below the water table during our soils investigation at the site to
pre-design screen and filter pack for the new monitoring wells. However, if
the geologist in the field observes substantially different conditions during
drilling, additional samples will be submitted for analyses as needed to
properly design the wells.
pmt: ,Will you test for, sample, and analyze any immiscible
layers when sampling the monitoring wells? We recommend that you do."
Each site monitoring well will be tested for the presence of
imiscible layers following installation and development by lowering nga deed
acrylic bailer into the well arra recovering samples of the top
luid
column Pr's. The estimated thickness of the layer and other pertinent
of the sample will be recorded in field
observations about the appearance
journals. However, we do not anticipate testing these samples until specific
data needs are identified.
DHS : v%qe recommend that a nonphosphate cleaner be used to
decontaminato equipment (i.e. Aleoncx)."
We are not aware of instances of water sample contamination
ted cleansers such as TSP which would not be
caused by brie use of phosphated ation blank normally collected before
revealed by testing thheefield decontamination
well sampling. Ha ever, as a precaution against possible contamination, we
will obtain and use Aleonox or a similar nor#1osphate cleanser for cleaning
sampling equipment used at the site.
We reccumend that you forward a cope of this letter to Imo'. Bill Kilgore
ons
at the DHS at your earliest opportunity. If you have any guest' ► please
do not hesitate to call.
Very truly Yours,
DAMES & MDCRE
Daniel W. Matthews
project Manager
DDdrI:akc
