My comments on the report and some of the addi-
tional items that should be addressed in the finalized plan follow:
1. Based on the figures in the report (i.e. , 75 percent of the 10..29 acre site
being contaminated and excavation to a minimum depth of 8 feet) the amount
of soil to be excavated and disposed of may be closer to 100,000 yd3 than
the 50,000 yd3 stated in the plan.
2. The gradient of the ground water should be presented in relationship to
mean sea level.
3. The results of the soil and water samples taken thus far should be
presented in a tabular form. The City of Tracy, after receiving written
approval from the Regional Board of the soils as foundation material for a
final cover at the Corral Hollow Landfill , will consider accepting these
soils. A summarized presentation of the pertinent data will assist both
the City and the Board in an expedient review of the soil ' s
characteristics.
4. Additional soil sampling will be required after excavation and before
backfilling. Sampling for "hot-spots" should be performed to ensure that
concentrations and properties of contaminants remaining do not pose a
threat to the ground water.
We request th- the off-site wells be sampled for total petroleum
hydrocarbons and BTX a minimum of once a year. The first of these samples
should be completed prior to backfilling. Findings of the soil samples
requested above could dictate additional well monitoring.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call me at (915)
324-8891.
.
