Box 6012
San Ramon, CA 94583
foo -
REVIEW OF WORKPLAN—ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION,FORMER TAOC TRACY PUMP
STATION PROPERTY, TRACY, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
We have reviewed the Workplan, dated 27 May 2004, for the ChevronTexaco Old Valley Pipeline(OVP)_,
project at the former TAOC Tracy Pump Station property located in Tracy. The property occupies the
eastern portion of the former TAOC Tracy Pump Station located along Beechnut Avenue, west of Tracy
Boulevard. The Workplan was prepared for ChevronTexaco by Geomatrix Consultants, Inc.
According to previous investigation reports conducted at the property, petroleum hydrocarbons have
impacted soil and groundwater onsite. Based on the most recent groundwater investigation report, the
extent of impacted groundwater has not been delineated downgradient and offsite north of monitoring
wells MW-E and MW-F.
The Workplan proposes to advance two soil borings offsite within 9th Street, approximately 275 feet north
of the property. The purpose of the borings is to delineate the lateral extent of impacted groundwater
downgradient(north). Depending on the results of the field work, additional borings, monitoring wells,
and soil and groundwater sampling may be required to assess the lateral extent of impacts to soil and
groundwater.
We have the following comments to the Workplan:
• In the event that petroleum hydrocarbons are not detected in the two groundwater samples, an
additional boring should be considered approximately midway between 9th Street and the site. A
groundwater sample from the parcel at the northwest intersection of Tracy Boulevard and 8th Street,
would be generally midway between MW-F and the east boring proposed in 9th Street.
California Environmental Protection Agency
0 Recycled Paper
