The soil borings will be backfilled to the ground surface with bentonite grout.
Soil samples will be retained for chemical analysis from each boring at depths of 0.5 to 1.0, 2.0 to 2.5,
5.0 to 5.5, and 8.0 to 8.5 feet bgs. With the exception of the 0.5- to 1.0-foot sample, the soil samples
will be analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) using EPA Method 8020 and
for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using EPA Method 8310. The 0.5- to 1.0-foot sample
will be analyzed for PAHs only.
The analytical results for each sample will be compared to U. S. Environmental Protection Agency -
Region IX Preliminary Remediation Goals (PRGs) to evaluate the possible health risk of detected
chemicals. A short letter report will be prepared presenting the results of the assessment and compar-
ing the results with the PRGs. The report will include a map showing boring locations, the lithologic
logs prepared for each boring, and the analytical data sheets provided by the laboratory.
Please call if you have any questions or require additional information.
Sincerely yours,
GEOMATRIX CONSULTANTS, INC.
12
#!ce LVA.
ngineer Principal Geologist
Attachments: Figure 1
Figure 2
cc: Connie Peak, CPL
[Ip]C(DATAIDOCUMENnCHEVROM3769-I.DOC
