C A M B R I A
• If MTBE concentration data from these deep wells agree with the grab groundwater data
from the CPT investigation, then we will consider the grab groundwater data validated and
proceed with installation of additional deep groundwater monitoring wells (phase two).
• If after sampling the two deep groundwater monitoring wells for a year and MTBE has not
been detected above MCLS,then we would consider the grab groundwater data from the CPT
investigation not valid and vertical delineation complete. Additional deep monitoring wells
would not be installed.
® • If groundwater samples from the deepest monitoring wells at a specific location at the site
are consistently above MCLS, additional vertical delineation may be warranted. Proposing
additional vertical delineation is premature at this time. Once we have verified that MTBE is
present at depth we will propose additional assessment as warranted.
Installation of both phases of wells at this time is not a rational scientific approach to
investigating the site. As is common to most investigations at service stations, data is collected
during one phase of investigation to be used to determine scope of the next phase of
investigation. The current proposal is consistent with this approach. We have collected data
from a previous investigation that may not be representative data. Therefore we are proposing to
validate some of this data before proceeding with a larger, more expensive, scope of work.
If further explanation of this phased approach is necessary then perhaps we should schedule a
meeting to discuss it further. In the mean time we will submit a drilling permit application for
the proposed work at this site.
1015 2
