(WGR) has prepared the
cnclosd letter report, dated 13April 1989,for the above referenced site, The purpose of the investigation
was to delineate the extent of contamination in soil and groundwater at the site based on information
concerning former underground tank locations and soil sampling conducted during removal of the tanks.
As indicated in the reports; 5 soil borings B-1 through B-5 were completed as monitoring wells MW-1
through MW-5 by WGR between 27 February and 2 March 1989. Soil and groundwater samples were
analyzed for total purgeable petroleum hydrocarbons(TPPH)and aromatic hydrocarbons. Soil collected
from the boring adjacent to the former waste oil tank were analyzed for purgeable priority pollutants and
oil and grease. All water samples were analyzed, for purgeable priority pollutants, oil and grease and
cadmium, chromium,land and ziaa.
The highest concentration of TPPH was detected in soil collected from-boring B-5 at the south west side
of the site. TPPH were also detected in boring 13-1 on the south side of the site and in boring B-2 at the
east side of the site, Benzene, toluene, total xylenes and ethylbenzene(BTXE)were also detected in soil
collected from those three borings. Oil and grease were detected in soil collected from boring B•3.
Groundwater collected from wells MWA,MW-2 and MW-5 contained TPPH and BTXE. The highest
concentrations were detected in well MW-1. TPPH and BTXE were not detected in wells MW-3 and
MW-4. In addition,1,2-dichioroethane and freon 113 were detected in weU MW-5. Oil and grease were
not detected in any of the groundwater samples.
