(Blaine Tech), to describe the results of groundwater monitoring that was performed at
the subject site on December 4 1996.
During the December site monitoring event Blaine Tech gauged and sampled eight of the nine site-related
wells.Monitoring well MW-3 was inaccessible. All groundwater samples were analyzed for the presence'
of TPHGas,BTEX constituents, and MTBE. The measured direction of groundwater flow was toward the
northeast. There were detections of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons at all wells except,MW-4 and MW-
7. The measured concentrations were consistent with those detected previously at the subject site except,
for increased levels of TPHGas,BTEX, and MTBE at well MW-9. These detections confirm those
reported for the previous monitoring event. Considering the consistent direction of groundwater flow
beneath the site, the position of MW-9 relative to those potential source areas onsite,.the absence of
similar trends in adjacent wells MW-1 and MW-2, and the recent(1995) release of motor fuel at the
ARCO service station, it would-appear that the observed trend at well MW-9 is reflective of an upgradent,
offsite source.
The remediation system recently installed at the subject site was started-up on February 20,1997. Full time
operation will be implemented as soon as permission is secured from the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air.
Pollution Control District.
If you have any questions or comments,I can be reached at(510)842-8695.
Sincerely,
Brett L.Hunter
Environmental Engineer
Site Assessment.and Remediation
°F1e ys;!a'th
