Chevron's response to each.condition is provided below.Each <br /> response is numbered according to the:corresponding.numbers.in your,letter._. <br /> 1)The remaining two vapof.ei-traction wells(GM=S-and.GM_.9)•are scheduled to be installed on-January - <br /> 24, 1997.Both wells are to be screened between 1.0 and 17 feet below ground surface. The planned <br /> locations and completion intervals of both wells are such,that their radii of influence should affect any <br /> shallow soil contamination that may remain in the vicinity of the former.piping trenches. <br /> 2)The attached data sheet was provided by the-supplier.of the trench liner material (Typar 3401)that is <br /> being used at the subject site. A copy of these-data has been.provided to Geraghty&Miller for use in <br /> their design and evaluation of the vapor extraction system.. <br /> 3)The condition to drill a.soil boring through the forine.r fuel tankpit to better define the vertical extent of <br /> secondary source of hydrocarbon contamination has been given muchconsideration. In considering <br /> this condition, Chevron has reviewed all soil analytical data from this vicinity and has conferred with <br /> its technical experts(Geraghty&Miller)about the request:As a result,there—appears to be no <br /> significant value gained by drilling such a boring that would enhance the design,performance,or <br /> evaluation.of the remediation system. Therefore, Chevron respectfully requests that you reconsider <br /> the condition to drill such a-boring. <br /> The initial start-up of the.remediation system has been delayed by the lack of an appropriate electrical <br /> hook-up and by prolonged periods of.rain. The electrical-hook-up has been cleared with PG&E,the vapor <br /> abatement equipment.has been secured, and the tentative system start-up date is February 14, 1997. <br /> In your letter you also requested that Chevron include Municipal:Wells#2 and#10 in its quarterly . <br /> sampling program. According to those:records made.:avail able to Chevron,Well#10-was formerly known <br /> as Swenson Park Well #2. Recognizing that both wells.are the same, Chevron has made arrangements. <br /> with the City of Stockton to sample Well#10,quarterly All-samples will be analyzed for the presence of <br /> TPHGas,BTEX(60 <br /> nstituents, and-MTBE.
