It is an active service station, <br /> presently being remodeled, that retails regular, unleaded, and super- <br /> unleaded gasoline. The former location of the underground storage tanks <br /> was on the south side of the site near Benjamin Holt Avenue. The former <br /> waste oil tank was located on the northeast part of the site. The new <br /> location of the underground storage tanks is on the north-central part of <br /> the site Figure 2. <br />._, the vicinity map for the site is presented in Figure 3. To the <br /> northeast of the site, across Plymouth Avenue, is the Swenson Park golf <br /> course. Behind the site, directly to the north, are several small <br /> businesses. Three other service stations are in the vicinity of the site. <br /> An active Arco service station is located to the south of the site across <br /> Ben Holt Drive. The Arco station has several monitoring wells, one well <br /> located in the side walk along Ben Holt Avenue bordering the Chevron site <br /> aad three other off site wells along Benjamin Holt Drive and Plymouth <br /> Avenue (Figure 3). A Shell service station is located to the west of the <br /> site on the other side of Interstate-5 Freeway. The site has 4 monitoring <br /> wells. An Exxon station is located to the southwest of the site across <br /> the Interstate-5 Freeway. No information concerning any investigation was <br /> available for that site., <br /> SITE BACKGROUMD <br /> The former underground skLarag* tanks and the waste oil tank were <br /> removed by Blaine Tech Services (BTS) of San Jose, California, between 6 <br /> and 10 January 1985. Results of the soi' sampling conducted by BTS during <br /> the tank removal were reported to Chevron on 17 January 1989. Total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in soils excavated from the tank pit. <br /> Oil and grease were detected in soil excavated from the waste oil pit. <br /> A soil vapor survey (SVS) was conducted by VIGR on 13 and 14 February <br /> 1989. Total volatile hydrocarbons were detected in vapor points sampled <br /> at about 15 ft below grade in the vicinity of the former location of the <br /> underground storage tanks, along former product line locations, and <br /> adjacent to the former location of the pump ;:;lands. <br /> OFF SITE BACKGROUND <br /> In May 1984, Arco reported a gasoline spill at their station across <br /> from the Chevron site.
