i
ATTACHMENT A
FIELD AND LABORATORY PROCEDURES
Soil Sampling
Soil samples were collected by advancing 2-inch-diameter brass sample liners into
undisturbed soil with an impact (slide hammer) sampler. Soil samples for chemical
analysis were retained in the brass liners, labeled, and capped with Teflon sheets and
plastic end caps. The samples were then sealed in zip-lock bags, placed on ice, and
transported to the laboratory accompanied by the appropriate chain-of-custody
documentation.
Laboratory Analysis of Soil Samples
• Analyses for methanol was performed using EPA Method 8015 (modified). TPHg and
BTEX analysis was performed using the DHS/LUFT method. Analysis for fuel
oxygenates including MtBE were performed by EPA Method 8260A.
