The expedited site assessment will consist of ten direct push
borings and installation of a sentry well. The purpose of this assessment is to assess water
quality near the City of Stockton municipal well No. 10.
Installation of a groundwater extraction system is contingent upon the results of the
expedited site assessment. The groundwater extraction system may include up to three
groundwater extraction wells and additional facilities to the existing remedial system. The
purpose of this groundwater extraction system is to protect the water quality of the City of
Stockton municipal well No. 10,
This work plan includes a brief discussion of site background, previous investigations, a
proposed scope of work, and schedule.
I
SITE BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS
Chevron 9-4275 is an active service station located at the northwest corner of Benjamin
Holt Drive and Plymouth Road in Stockton, California. The service station was
constructed in 1973. At that time, four single walled, fiberglass underground storage tanks
(USTs) were installed. A gasoline release from a product line was detected in 1985.
In January 1989, the four single walled USTs (three gasoline and one waste oil) were
removed. No holes were found in any of the USTs. Soil samples were collected from
beneath the tanks and beneath the product lines. Soil samples collected from below the
excavated tanks contained up to 3,600 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) and 31 mg/kg of benzene. Soil samples from below the
southern product line were non-detect for all analyzed analytes, but samples from below
3017 Kilgore Road, Suite 100, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 916.861.0400 916.861.0430 Fax www.secor.com
