2905 W Benjamin Holt Drive, Stockton, California August 12, 1994 <br /> Chevron USA Products Company Page 3 <br /> • 3.0 ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT WORK <br /> 3.1 Site-Specific Health And Safety Plan/Background Review/Permitting <br /> Groundwater Technology revised the existing site-specific Health and Safety Plan required by the <br /> Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) "Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency <br /> Response" guidelines (29 CFR 1910 120) The Health and Safety Plan was revised by Groundwater <br /> Technology personnel, following a complete review of site conditions The document was reviewed and <br /> signed by all Groundwater Technology personnel and subcontractors prior to performing work at the <br /> site <br /> Groundwater Technology conducted a technical review of all pertinent information prior to proceeding <br /> with assessment work at the site Well installation permits obtained from the City of Stockton and the <br /> SJCPHS-EHD are included in Appendix A <br /> 32 Soil Boring/Soil Sampling <br /> On June 20, 1994, Groundwater Technology supervised the drilling of five sod borings ranging in depth <br /> from 18 to 30 feet using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 8-inch-diameter hollow-stem augers All <br /> drilling equipment was steam cleaned prior to drilling, and sampling equipment was washed between <br /> sampling intervals <br /> During drilling, sod samples were collected at 5-foot intervals, beginning at 5 feet BGS to the bottom of <br /> each boring Samples were collected using a 2 5-inch outside-diameter split-spoon sampler, lined with <br /> three 2-inch-diameter by 6-inch-long brass sample tubes The sampler was driven 18 inches ahead of <br /> the augers at each sample point Sod samples were field screened for hydrocarbon vapors using a <br /> photo-ionization detector (PID) One sample from every 5-foot interval was sealed with aluminum foil, <br /> capped, taped, labeled, placed on ice in an insulated container and delivered to Superior Precision <br /> Analytical, Inc (Superior), in San Francisco, California The field geologist maintained a complete log of <br /> the materials encountered during drilling using the Unified Sod Classification System (Appendix B) <br /> Selected samples were submitted for analysis of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX), <br /> and total petroleum hydrocarbons-as-gasoline (TPH-G) by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) <br /> methods 5030/8020/modified 8015 <br /> AL_ GROUNDWATER <br /> 0017aear rpt _ 1b. ._ TECHNOLOGY <br />
