certified to perform the specified tests by the State of California Department of Health
Services Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program.
Trip Blanks
To assure the quality of the collected samples and to evaluate the potential for cross
contamination during transport to the laboratory, a distilled-water trip blank accompanies
the samples in the cooler. The trip blank is analyzed for the presence of volatile organic
compounds of concern. For petroleum hydrocarbons, the trip blank is typically analyzed
for TPHg, BTEX, and MtBE by EPA Method 8260.
Containment and Disposal of Generated Purge Water
All purge water generated during the field activities is temporarily stored within a
polyethylene tank mounted on the sampler's truck. Purge water is stored in 55-gallon
drums at the Chevron site. Water is then transported by Integrated Waste Management
(IWM) for disposal at an appropriate facility.
i
I:IChevron%942751Period1c MonitoringlQ M RIFIELD AND LABORATORY PROCEDURE51.doc 2 of 2
