•
05 November 2007
AGE-NC Project No. 06-1481
Page 3 of 7
of potential chemicals of concern.
TPH-g-range hydrocarbons were detected in grab ground water sample 136-W at a concentration of
120 micrograms/liter (µg/1) utilizing EPA Method 8015M. The volatile organic compounds
trichloroethene (TCE) and tetrachloroethene (PCE) were detected in sample 136-W utilizing EPA
Method 8260 at concentrations of 5.2 µg/1 and 110 µg/1, respectively.
CTEL confirmed that the TPH-g-range hydrocarbons were probably due to the presence of solvents,
and not TPH-g. Since the total concentration of PCE and TCE in sample 136-W was close to that of
the TPH-g-range hydrocarbons,AGE concludes that the"TPH-g" detected by method 8015M was
actually the TCE and PCE detected by method 8260.
No other COC were detected in the analyzed soil or grab ground water samples.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes to advance a series of soil borings in order to collect soil vapor or grab ground water
and/or soil samples. The phase II site assessment will include the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Soil vapor or grab ground water and/or soil sample collection and analysis;
• Report preparation
The site assessment tasks are discussed below.
3.1. PRE-FIELD WORK TASKS
A health and safety plan is presently on-file and was prepared in accordance with Occupational
Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to mobilization,the area of the soil borings will be clearly marked
and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
3.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE will advance borings for the collection samples to collect chemical data, in order to evaluate
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
