The water sample was collected directly from the discharge valve between the <br /> pump and the separator tank. The sample was analyzed for benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, <br /> and xylene by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 602 and total <br /> petroleum fuel hydrocarbons by EPA Method 8015, modified. <br /> Sample Benzene, Ethylbenzene, Xylene, Total petroleum <br /> Date collected number ug/l ug/1 ug/1 hydrocarbons, mg/1 <br /> 11/29//88 R-1 17.0 ND 2.9 0.2 <br /> The benzene concentration in this sample exceeds the California Department of Health <br /> Services Drinking Water Action Level, of 0.7 parts per billion, established in January 1987. <br /> All other constituents are below detection limits or below the California Regional Water <br /> Quality Control Board's, Central Valley Region suggested levels in a liquid for the <br /> protection of groundwater quality (revised September 1987).
