SECOR is proposing to
destroy these wells because they are located in roadways and present a hazard to
workers conducting routine work on the wells. SECOR proposes to abandon the wells by
pressure grouting.
Per the San Joaquin County Well Standards, groundwater monitoring wells that encounter
or yield contamination must be destroyed by over drilling and removing all contents of the
bore hole, then backfilling with grout from total depth to surface grade. This method would
be required of wells BHD-1 and E-8, both of which reported detections of contamination at
the last quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling event. SJC/EHD approves the
destruction of the wells conditionally to using approved methods.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Nuel C.
