The work plan was prepared for the installation of soil vapor extraction and air
sparging wells for ARCO Station 2133 located at 2908 Benjamin Holt Drive, Stockton,
California.
Item 1 was the installation of one groundwater monitoring well on the northwest corner of the
site which was not proposed in the work plan. Figure 1 of this letter is a revised site map
showing the proposed location of this well. The groundwater monitoring well will be installed
according to the methods described in the "Groundwater Monitoring Wells" section in the
May 14, 1993, work plan.
Item 2 was a discussion of our progress on obtaining access to install a groundwater
monitoring well on CalTrans property between the ARCO Station and the northbound freeway
offramp. I explained that CalTrans was not willing to grant access for safety reasons.
Ms. Meays requested that BC obtain a letter from CalTrans documenting their refusal to allow
access to their property so ARCO could formally appeal the County's request to install a
monitoring well in that location. After reviewing this documentation, the County will request
that ARCO install this well on the western edge of the ARCO site, south of monitoring well
E-12 instead of on the CalTrans property. Beginning June 7, 1993, BC made several
unsuccessful efforts to contact Mr. John Galliano of CalTrans to request this letter. On
July 1, 1993, Mr. Galliano was contacted and agreed to prepare a letter denying access.
7525N CORRESPJ525-021-2
