Commingled Plume#35 _
Chevron 9-4275/ARCO#2133
Site Conceptual Model
September 1,2006
Page 13
7.0 POTENTIAL EXPOSURE PATHWAYS AND SENSITIVE RECEPTORS
Potential exposure medium include the following: groundwater, soil, and air. Groundwater may
be encountered during well installation, groundwater sampling, and water level monitoring
activities. Soil is typically only encountered during well installation or onsite excavation.
Impacted soil is predominantly in the vicinity of the dispenser islands and USTs, and away from-
structures within which volatile contaminants could accumulate, it is unlikely that soil vapors will
significantly impact the ambient or indoor air quality. Figure 13 presents an exposure pathway
model depicting sources responsible for potential exposure and potential pathways of exposure.
The exposure pathway model :is based on the following assumptions:
• City of Stockton Municipal Well #10 is not used for drinking water;
• The area of impacted soil will remained paved so that onsite occupational workers will
not be directly exposed to impacted soil;
• Impacted soil vapors in the vicinity of the dispenser island will not affect indoor air quality
within the station building.
Using these assumptions, the only potential exposure pathways would be for a future
construction worker through,the inhalation of soil vapors, contact with groundwater, and direct
exposure to impacted soil.
94275-ARCO 2133 SCM 9-2006 13
