Tl:e wi.,ter sample was collected directly from the discharge valve between the <br /> pump and the separator tank. The sample was analyzed for benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, <br /> and xylene by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 602 and total <br /> petroleum fuel hydrocarbons by EFA Method 8015; modified. The benzene concxntration <br /> in this sample exceeded the California.Department of Health Services Drinking Water <br /> Action Level, of 0.7 parts per billion, established in aanuary 1987. All other constituents <br /> were below detection limits or below the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, <br /> Central ;'alley Region suggested levels in a liquid for the protection of groundwater quality <br /> (revised September 1987).
